Connect with other Stringalong Participants ahead of time
For both the SATURDAY ONLY STAFF-TAUGHT PROGRAM and the FULL WEEKEND PARTICIPANT-LED PROGRAM: Some folks use our online Yahoo Group site to talk to each other in the weeks before the Stringalong Weekend: See what classes are being discussed, ask for feedback about classes you might like to offer or ask someone else to offer, find out what to bring. Ask what to expect in general, about carpooling or for a ride, about renting an instrument from another participant, or just read the comments. Sometimes the staff sends in comments. Some folks keep exchanging music information and stay in touch on this site all year long. Note: You cannot be sure of reaching everyone who will attend because some participants register at the last minute, and some don't use this Yahoo Group site at all.
WHAT IF I WANT TO GO TO SATURDAY CLASSES & STAY FOR DINNER, OPEN MIC & EVE JAMS?
Then you may want to consider registering instead for the Participant-Led Program below, as a full-time Com-muter (or stay with us). If you elect this option, you may take either 1 or 2 Staff-Taught classes on Saturday, and stay for dinner and evening activities (includes an Open Mic and jamming). You do not have to attend on Friday or Sunday, but if you register in the Participant-Led Program, you are welcome, including all meals, all activities.
CAN I GET IN TOUCH WITH OTHER PARTICIPANTS WITH QUESTIONS BEFORE I COME?

WHAT ARE THE PARTICIPANT-LED CLASSES LIKE?
WHAT ELSE HAPPENS IN THE DAY AND THE EVENINGS?
Many of our Stringalong Weekend participants have been following acoustic music, dance and creative art forms for decades, and have interesting talents to share, such as how to play an instrument like a guitar, autoharp, fiddle, banjo, mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, ukulele, mandolin, bass, tinwhistle, harmonica, etc. Some folks lead song swaps or harmony singing or take turns singing rounds. Other classes may include cooking (2 small kitchens), storytelling, gardening, ecology, crafts, songwriting, folklore, etc. If you have a skill or talent, please share it with us!
Friday evening’s Welcome includes a potluck supper, introductions, a shared singalong/playalong, plus jamming by the fire in Runge Lounge till the wee hours. On Saturday, folks either attend classes or hike the boardwalk or jam in Runge Lodge by the fireplace. Saturday afternoon includes a Staff Concert down in Main Camp (free to program registrants), offered by two nationally-known staff. After dinner, Saturday evening includes an (optional) Open Mic.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT CLASSES TO TEACH, OR WHAT WILL BE
OFFERED? As participants arrive on Friday, classes are listed on a bulletin board with pre-assigned times and room locations. Some participants use a Stringalong online Yahoo Group site to discuss options ahead of time (see below).
CAN I REGISTER FOR THE PARTICIPANT-LED PROGRAM, AND ALSO TAKE
A STAFF-TAUGHT CLASS? Yes. You may register for the entire weekend’s Participant-Led Program, either as a Commuter or as a resident in Hoffer or Runge, and take either one class or two classes from the professional staff on Saturday for an additional fee of $25 per class. (The staff concert is already included in your fee)
